DOIMUKH, Jun 17: A sensitization workshop for nodal teachers on the NRHM’s School Health Programme (SHP) was conducted by the Papum Pare District Health Society (DHS) at the CHC here today.
The nodal teachers are to play a pivotal role in providing effective healthcare to students and school dropout children aged between 10-19 years in their respective schools.
DMO Dr S Ronya encouraged the participants to make the most of the workshop, while DRCHO Dr Kipa Tuglik made a PowerPoint presentation on the aims and objectives of the SHP.
“Nodal teachers must administer weekly iron folic acid supplements along with Vitamin A to adolescent students every Monday for 52 weeks, and provide de-worming in February and August every year to reduce the prevalence and severity of anaemia and helminthes infestation,” he informed.
The DRCHO also sought monthly reports in the matter from the nodal teachers.
