The meeting between the militants and security forces resumed on Wednesday morning at Lavebora, a suburb of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, resulted in the removal of 3 terrorists who jumped into a building near the National Highway.
On Tuesday evening, the J&K police, army and CRPF launched a round-up and search operation following reports of a terrorist presence near the national highway.
The operation was halted last night and all entrances and exits to the area were completely closed.
After several hours of sluggishness this morning, new gunfire resumed in the area, locals said. “The shooting started again in the area,” said a local who lives near the scene of the encounter.
The National Highway has been closed and traffic to North Kashmir has been diverted to other areas.
