As the stalemate between the government and the peasantry, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, continues, the government is working hard to plan “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government’s special relationship with the Sikhs”. On November 30, Guru Purab Day, the Center released a 44-page booklet in English, Hindi and Punjabi. The extended edition of the now 88-page handbook was again distributed this week by party members and the government. The renewed impetus came when Modi invited Guru Gobind Singh to the groundbreaking ceremony of the new parliament building last week, saying, “As long as the world exists, the dialogue must continue.” Two days ago in Kutch, the Prime Minister, who was accused by the opposition of misleading the farmers, met a group of people and filmed them meeting members of the Sikh community there.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a letter of condolence to former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last month on the death of his mother. He met Begum Shamim Akhtar during a sudden visit to Lahore in December 2015. Indian diplomats handed it over to the sheriff’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The sheriff is in London.
Court for all
