Kisan Ekta Morcha is a farmers’ association and its Facebook page, the oldest in five days, has gained 75,000 followers. The group collects information from various farmers’ associations and posts it on social media. Its page was reportedly recovered about three hours later.

The group also gained control over its Instagram account, after which it was not allowed to post videos or photos. HT approached Facebook for comment, but did not receive an immediate response.

Baljeet Singh, head of the group’s information technology cell, said the page was removed for violating the social media website’s social standards.

“We have been releasing clips of Narendra Modi’s speech since the day before yesterday,” Singh said. “Every one of his lies was confronted with facts and examples. Following that, we started a live broadcast with ோக Swaraj India {Yogendra Yadav. In the middle of the broadcast, the page was removed.”

According to Bhupendra Chaudhary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union in Haryana, it is “shameful” to take a Facebook page. “This is not the first time Facebook has done something obviously positive for the government,” he said.
