Prime Minister Narendra Modi today handed over the Arjun Main Battle Tank Mark-1A (MK-1A) to the Indian Army in Chennai. At one ceremony, he also paid homage to the sophisticated tank designed, built and manufactured locally by DRDO’s Combat Vehicle Research and Development Institute.
Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam were also present.
The Arjun Mark 1A71 has major and user-powered upgrades that make it world-class and will greatly benefit the Indian Army. Features such as increased mobility and fighting ability are included in the MK-1A.
