South Africa abandons contact isolation

In South Africa, the Ministry of Health has decided to end the policy of detecting and isolating contact cases with immediate effect.

The policy of detecting contact cases in case of contamination will be retained in some cases, for example in assembly environments or during the proliferation of strong clusters.

A person declared a contact case should no longer isolate themselves, but should continue his or her daily activities while actively monitoring for any signs of contamination. Daily temperature measurements and tests should be done if symptoms appear.

Isolation for victims

So the government puts an end to isolation for those with contact cases, but the rules for victims remain the same. They should be isolated for eight to ten days depending on the severity of their symptoms.

This decision was made because “isolation strategies are no longer appropriate” in the face of a “hyper-infectious variant like Omigron”. Reducing the number of isolated people reduces the impact on the country‚Äôs activities. L ‘South Africa Omigron was the origin of the variant.

In France, The Omicron variant was detected in 20% of the Govit-19 cases mentioned just before Christmas. In Paris, however, this variation represents more than a third of the pollution.
