The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was a diversion for the Biden administration

This is Joe Biden’s first international crisis and is going badly. The democratic administration was shocked by the Taliban’s sudden occupation of Afghanistan. The fall of Kabul is approaching. A few weeks ago, Americans believed that a somewhat negotiated solution with the Taliban was possible. In fact, the only priority now is to expel about 10,000 American citizens and their Afghan collaborators and allies. The capture of Kabul was announced in 1975, when the pro-US regime lost to Communist North Vietnam. But that fall came two years after the US withdrew, while the Taliban’s victory was only a few weeks away.

The U.S. president, who has been increasing the number of crisis meetings since the presidential retreat of Camp David near Washington, now has almost the same priority of expelling his citizens. “I have authorized the deployment of approximately 5,000 U.S. troops to continue the proper and safe withdrawal of U.S. personnel. (R), As well as an orderly and safe evacuation of the Afghans who assisted our troops, Joe Biden wrote in a press release issued on Saturday, August 14th. Of the 5,000 soldiers, 3,000 U.S. infantry troops announced reinforcements last week, and 1,000 soldiers are already stationed in Kabul. Mr. Pitan’s Saturday announcement, therefore, sent 1,000 additional troops from the Persian Gulf.
