Three teachers killed in road accident in Mehsana

The deceased have been identified as Vipul Chaudhary (38), Smita Chauhan (33) and Anand Sreemali (30) of Mehsana.

Three school teachers were killed Tuesday in a car crash in a pond in Mehsana.

All three teachers were on their way to school for work when the accident happened at around 5.30am. The driver lost control of his SUV, which crashed into a roadside pond in Panchot village, police said.

The deceased were identified as Vipul Chaudhary (38), Smita Chauhan (33) and Anand Sreemali (30), all residents of Mehsana and working as primary school teachers.

“According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the car tried to save a dog that came on the road and lost control of the vehicle. The car fell into the pool. All three teachers died at the scene and their bodies were later recovered. The car was also ejected from the pool by a crane. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and an accidental death has been reported, ”said a Mehsana B Division police official.
